Charlotte's Web Baby Shower

So our little baby sister, Fefe, managed to get herself married and then knocked up in the same year. We decided from the get go to do a book themed shower because we are a family who loves their books.  Well, most of us.  Anyways, we just had to wait and see just what was in the oven before we decided on what book to use.  Once we found out that she was having a sweet baby girl by the name of Stella, we settled on Charlotte's Web.  I had not seen alot out there in the party world with this theme so we came up with a lot of ideas by ourselves. We also got some great help from Kim over at Party Frosting.  She was kind enough to do a post for me when I requested some help with the theme.  A lot of the other ideas came from random farm parties I have seen throughout the blogosphere.

We made the cute cupcake toppers with our Cricut.  I cut out the silhouettes of a pig and spider and used glue dots to stick them our scalloped circles. We also used the same silhouettes on the banner, napkin rings, and favor bags. We purchased these adorable mini haystacks at Michaels.

We purchased those adorable little ceramic pigs at The Christmas Tree Shop for .50 cent each.  We also purchased some hay bales that we used for outdoor decor there as well.

We used rolled twine from Micheals to hang our tissue paper balls.

I think the favor bags were my favorite thing from the entire party.  We originally wanted to use small galvanized buckets for favors but were unable to find them anywhere.  Then I saw this great idea at Party Frosting.  She made her own bags by cutting burlap and simply stapling it and turning them inside out.  We stenciled "Thanks Y'all" on them and they were done. Just be forewarned that burlap is messy, and it gets everywhere!  We filled them with cow tails, animal cookies (of course) and Reeses in honor of the soon to be born Stella Reese.

With the shower out of the way, we are now patiently waiting for the little princess's arrival. Well, some of us are waiting patiently. Fefe just wants her out. Now.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mad Scientist Party!

Hi, Brandy again!  My son Caleb is a artsy, sciency, cool kid.  I sometimes describe him as different. :)

So for his 7th birthday, my little sister Stephanie, also known as Fefe, came up with the best theme ever, a Mad Scientist party.  As soon as she mentioned it, I was all over it.  I scoured the blogs and stole borrowed many ideas.  It has been awhile but I will try to link up to where the ideas came from.

I got the idea for the slime background here at Party Starters.

For the cupcakes , I used these cute bulletin board cutouts that I found at the Dollar Tree. We just glued them to little sticks to form the toppers.

I saw these at Swanky Tables and just knew I had to have them. We just made green jello and poured into petri dishes.  We added some gross gummy brains that I found at a party store around here. Easy Peasy.

I also filled a bunch of new, sterile syringes with jello for the kids.  These were one of their favorites.  Adults, too.

 Drink Station.

Favor Table.

 Name Badges.

We sprayed the kids hair green which they loved.  We also made a lab coat for each child out of a plain white t-shirt cut up the middle. I found this idea  and several others that I used through a link on one of my favorite blogs, Frost Me.  Kim is so helpful!

All of the experiments, as well as the beakers and petri dishes, were purchased from Steve Spangler.  They were a huge hit with the party guests.  We made slime, worms, snow and glow sticks.  For the grand finale, we blew up coke bottles with mentos.

It was a lot of work, but it was so worth it to see how excited all of the kids were. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi!

So I have been trying to decide for the last month what to write as the first post of this newfangled blog my sisters and I have decided to start.  I have settled on.....HI!  I am Brandy, the oldest of four sisters!  There is also Laura, Melanie, and last, but not least Stephanie. We also have two awesome friends who might as well be our sisters, Shanika and Trisha! We all love crafting, throwing parties, couponing and just hanging out together with our families. We also love Twilight.  Just throwing that out there.   We are constantly reading blogs and emailing our favorite posts to each other, so we decided to try out our own blog so that we could share some of the awesomeness that we sometimes manage to create.  So, now that we have cleared that awkward first hurdle, my advice to you would be to stay tuned, awesomeness is sure to follow.
